Cyber Sales increase 1% on Black Saturday
According to recent reports, sales during the Black Saturday in retail stores were a bit better than anticipated despite the depressed retail climate. As stated by Gian Fulgoni, comScore chairman, even in the online channel, sales on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday combined is up to 2% higher than the previous year. He further stated that there is probability that since last Black Friday, consumers responded positively to very aggressive promotions and discounts offered in retail stores, it would also work out similarly in online Cyber Monday, the traditional kick-off to the online holiday shipping season.
Not much significance is given to stats on a single day by reason of the bulk of E-commerce shopping that will happen later in the season. Most likely, it shall take place somewhere from December 12 through December 22. More so, economic pressures will largely push through purchases much later in that cycle, since consumers wish to have better bargains as retailer get even more desperate as the shopping days is decreasing until Christmas season.
During this year, online retailers will launch thousands of promotions in order to draw consumers into the world of gift buying.
eHoliday survey revealed that 83.7 percent of retailers will have a special promotion for Cyber Monday, up from 72.2 percent last year.
