Chicago Park District
During wintertimes, the ice is just right to have fun at local parks.
Recently, the Chicago Park District has opened its eight-outdoor rinks at parts throughout the city. And such admission-free rinks create, indeed, perfect destinations for families who are looking for seasonal fun without having to expend. Many of the rinks contain warming areas and plenty of holiday music blowing through the air. For those who don’t own skates, rental fees ranging from $5 to $6 are available.
Outdoor rinks became part of holiday tradition already for thousands of Chicagoans who like to skate, as mentioned by Scott Stevenson, vice president of Westrec Marinas, manager of the rinks. Thus, ice skating is regarded as a wonderful way to start the holiday season.
The entire outdoor rinks are kept with freezing temperatures by means of refrigerator coils.
