Inaugural Luncheon Menu 2009


Following the inaugural oath of office of Barack Obama and after he delivers his inaugural address today and also escorts then-ex-President Bush off his Texas return, he and Vice President Joe Biden plus the other members of their team will do lunch.

Inaugural Luncheon is actually a tradition-laden affair which is hosted by Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies. It is a lunch for 200 members of Congress, Supreme Court justices and Cabinet Officials which was held in the stunning Statuary Hall of the Capitol.

Hence,  as public service, The Ticket offers this re-peek at the three-course elite menu. Apparently, the courses reflect the tastes of Abraham Lincoln and the design was the by Design Cuisine, an Airlington, Va., Caterer loved by those who are fond of flavor.

The inaugural luncheon menu of 2009 are as follows:

The first course, a seafood stew filled with lobster, scallops, shrimp and cod, will be served with Duckhorn Vineyards’s 2007 Sauvignon Blanc.

For the second course, there will be a brace of American birds: Pheasant and duck served with sour cherry chutney and Molasses sweet potatoes. This will be paired with Goldeneye, which is a 2005 Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley.

Dessert will be an Apple Cinnamon Sponge Cake, served with sweet cream glace and paired with a California champagne or sparkling wine from Korbel which will be a special inaugural cuvee.
