Dot Shot Sinkhole

Guatemala City  –   A seemingly bottomless sinkhole that opened up on Sunday in Guatemala City as Central America was drenched by tropical storm Agatha. A huge sinkhole, whose bottom is almost impossible to see, has appeared in the center of Guatemala City, looking like something out of a post apocalyptic science fiction movie.

The sinkhole had appeared as a result of the torrential rain, and it is 60 meters deep and 30 meters wide. It has swallowed a 3-storey building and a house as well. 

World’s tallest bullding: Burj Dubai Tower

A 2,700 feet 160-story skyscraper in Dubai opens on January 4, 2010, the fourth anniversary of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed al-Maktoum’s rule in Dubai, a month delayed for its expected opening.  It will be the tallest building in the world which acquires impressive technologies of today like the fastest elevator in the world, traveling at 10 meters per second and double-decker elevators that can accommodate 21 people. To keep out the desert heat, 10,000 tons of coolant with flow through the tower every hour. There are 230,000 cubic meters of concrete form the building’s core, enough to pave 1,180 miles of sidewalk.

The largest shopping center is also located there, with space for 1,200 shops nestled among 30,000 apartments. ith Dubai announcing it financial mess last week, 400 projects are now stalling, including the Burj Dubai — the world’s tallest tower.

As the AP wrote this week:

“Most other of the unfinished super-projects announced in recent years, such as a second palm-shaped island or a tower to surpass the Burj Dubai, are either recession roadkill or being considered on a far smaller scale, if they are still considered at all.”

miley cyrus – bus accident

Miley Cyrus, a 16 yr old hollywood singer, had a tragic news. Her tour bus was transporting her crew members was involved in a deadly crash just outside Richmond, va.

But Cyrus wasn’t on board when the tragic happened. She was also set to rock the house on sunday at Greensboro, N.C.

It said by the authorities that the bus was travelling in the southbound lane of I-85, it overturned when it ran off the left side of the road. Those who are in the bus was able to exit through the front windshield. Some of the people who were on board got injured. But one of them died.

It said that William G. Douglas, 53 yrs old, who is from Austin, Texas died from the accident. He was one of the Cyrus’ crew. As Miley stated that Douglas will always be remembered and he wasn’t just a member of the crew, but also a member of the family. He will be truly be missed.

Lin Miaoke Will Play Lin Daiyu On TV!

Lin Miaoke, the girl who sang the national anthem of China entitled “Hymn to the Motherland” during the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony last August 8, 2008, is going to play the role of young Lin Daiyu in Li Shaohang’s new adaptation of “Dream of the Red Chamber” or “Hong Lou Meng.”

It can be remembered the Miaoke was the one who sat rapt on Friday night as porcelain China doll and flew like a Peter Pan over the Olympic opening ceremonies while singing “Ode To The Motherland.” A lot were claming that she was lip synching at that time.

Lin Miaoke starred in “A Dream Of Red Mansions”, which was shot in Yangshou, in east China. The Jiangsu Province of Yangzhou was featured in the film’s scenery. And now, she will make her debut in acting.

The TV series started shooting late last May and is expected to wrap up this summer. The production team is now shooting the outdoor scenes in eastern China’s gardens, lakes and water towns. Probably, the series will debut during next year’s Spring Festival holiday.

Space Shuttle Launch Delayed Due To Gas Leak

The space shuttle Discovery was set to launch tonight, March 11, 2009 at 9:20 p.m. EDT. After four weeks of delays, NASA said that the shuttle is ready to to lift off and head out on its two-week voyage to the International Space Station (ISS). However, NASA has delayed the launch of its Discovery Shuttle mission to complete the electricity generation system on the ISS by reason of a fuel leak.

The 14-day mission is due to feature four spacewalks to help install the 56 truss segment to the starboard, or right, side of the station and the deployment of solar arrays. A failed unit shall also be replaced by the Discovery’s astronauts for a system that converts urine into drinking water.

In addition to the astronaut’s key tasks is the ISS crew rotation where the Discovery will drop off the Japanese space agency’s (Jaxa) first resident crew member. Dr. Koichi Wakat is one experienced astronaut as he has already flown on two previous shuttle mission. His stay on the ISS is expected to last until June. According to the executive director of Jaxa’s human space programme, Kuniaki Shiraki, the week will be a historic week for Japan’s programme. “We have been waiting for a long time,” he further stated.

The Discovery’s mission had been delayed by several weeks in order to give the engineers time do an investigation regarding the cause of a fractured fuel valve on the last shuttle mission.
