Southern. Gun nut. Probably Republican. Probably pro Iraq. Probably pro torture. Likely a conservative religious upbringing. Marine wanna be. Cop wanna be. Both types attract rigid thinkers who see themselves as above-the-law doctrine enforcers. Very likely a rigid, unforgiving, dysfunctional, family that was not into progressive liberal values of unconditional love and respect and the sharing of feelings — which is why his immediately family was the most targeted. In all likelihood a poor, white trash version of the Bush/Cheney crime organization.

I am certain the National Rifle Association’s official position is that they are appalled by Mr. McLendon’s crime and characterize him, as the perpetrator, as being solely responsible. Nonetheless, it is incontrovertible that the National Rifle Association and many of its members fully supported Mr. McLendon’s unfettered right to possess a firearm before he committed those unspeakable shootings even if they harbored mere suspicions that he, as a law abiding citizen at the time, might engage in a criminal act.

Ultimately this is the stance and mindset of the members of the National Rifle Association, namely no restriction on access to firearms for all law abiding citizens.

This issue has nothing to do with gun control, the degree of regulatory restrictiveness on firearms, its efficacy or one’s ability to defend themselves and others. It is about the agenda of the National Rifle Association and its members to ensure that all law abiding citizens have unrestricted access to firearms when it is self-evident that for some it utterly irresponsible to do so.

That is the real terrorist threat and clear and present danger confronting Americans today. We have reached the point where the Second Amendment should be repealed.

One has to question his motive for wanting to be a soldier or a cop. Clearly it was a fantasy of being a bully with a gun.
