It was seven months of competition for the 16 contestants battling for the ultimate title. Rudy and Danny were guaranteed finalist. The decision on whom to be eliminated between  Amanda and Liz depends on public vote. Fortunately for Amanda, she got the final spot.

Before moving on to the finalists weighing in, it was time for some surprises.  Shay didn’t win the second prize, but she was invited to the season 9 finale.  For every pound she loses, Subway will pay her $1,000. Then, Antoine, who started dating Alexandra when they were eliminated from the show, popped the question.

The happy-go-lucky Danny, who was a rock of support to Liz and other contestants this season, won the Biggest Loser Season 8. He was virtually unrecognizable in his new, trim body. He handily edged out his next closest competitor, Rudy, who started at 442 pounds and ended up losing 234 pounds, or 52.94% of his body weight.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night wasn’t really a surprise at all: Antoine got down on one knee and proposed to Alexandra, who managed to capture his heart despite being on the ranch just all of one week.
