Man Faces $100,000 fine for agreeing to take blame for speeding

Mr Tan Poh Heng, 29, a sles promoter in Singapore was charged with corruption in court for allegedly taking a bribe of $1200 so that he could take the blame for a speeding incident.

Huang Yongjie was caught speeding along Upper Thomson Road on 4 Dec 2007, and the fine was $150.00

Huang didn’t want that on his record, so he looked for someone else to take the rap for the offence. He asked his colleague, Yap, if she knew anyone who might want to take the rap instead, and she recommended that Huang talk to her boyfriend, Tan.

The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau said it had conducted an investigation on Tan in August last year.

If he is convicted, he can be fined up to S$100,000 or he could beĀ  jailed for 5 years, or both.

No word on what action or punishment Huang and Yap might receive for their involvement.

Fine of $196 Paid by Danica Patrick

The star race drived Danica Patrick had paid a $196 fine in order to settle a speeding ticket after she was caught in a 35 mph zone going 54 mph in the previous month in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Danica Sue Patrick was born March 25, 1982 in Beloit, Wisconsin. She is an American auto racing driver who is currently competing in the IndyCar Series. For both 2005 Indianopolis 500 and the 2005 IndyCar Series Season, Patrick was named as the Rookie of the Year. In the 2008 Indy Japan 300, Patrick was the first woman who won an Indy car race.

The 26-year-old racer was asked by Scottdale police to pull over last December 9 in her hometown while she was driving her 2007 Mercedes. Also, in the previous year, she was also ticketed for driving 57 mph in a 40 mph zone in Scottdale where she was ordered to attend traffic school.

Based on the records of the court, it was revealed that the latest tickets are among the several she was able to receive in the last three years. Also, she was directed to attend at the traffic court next week, Monday but she was able to settle the fine Wedmesday according to a Scottsdale City Court Clerk.
