Wisconsin NO CALL LIST nears DEADLINE

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Do not Call law was enacted by Wisconsin for the purpose of helping to protect consumers from unwanted calls from telemarketers. However, advocates of consumer protection warned these consumers that the law shall only work when they remember to reregister.

A lot of people get irritated when the phone rings and the person on the other line is someone trying to sell something, again and again. More importantly, it is most irritating when your number is found on the Wisconsin’s 1.4 million Do Not Call List but still there is a phonecall from a telemarketer.

Investigation is always made in order to track down companies that simply ignore the law. As Glen Loyd suggests, a person called must try to take down information of these companies and report them to the Wisconsin’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. However, double check must likewise be made since those names who do not appear in the Do Not Call List are susceptible of being called again and again by telemarketers.

Thus, if registration of one has expired, a person is directed to register or reregister every two years. Loyd stated that non-profits companies to whom a person has done business with are also exempted from registering or renewing their membership in the Do Not Call List. In order to still become a member in January 2009, registration and reregistration by the end of November has to be settled.
